This was session 368a of Tesos en Wi-Fi, focusing on Wi-Fi design class using Hamina software. Walid asked about importing Ekahau files into Hamina, which led to an extensive explanation from Jerry about the Open Intent framework – a Google initiative that allows cross-tool data exchange between Wi-Fi planning software. Jerry demonstrated how Ekahau files can be converted to Open Intent format using Kjetil’s tools [https://ai-tools.teigenrf.org/], and then imported into Hamina, showing the complete process from file conversion to successful import of building layouts, access points, and antenna information. The session also covered the differences between Wi-Fi planning tools (Hamina, Ekahau, Wavelify, and Sidos) and their respective strengths, with particular emphasis on Hamina’s AI-powered floor plan creation and 3D visualization capabilities. Power budgets with the additions of desk phones, cameras, was demonstrated. Cabling, fiber optics backhauls, MDFs, IDFs, point to point simulations, cable tray, and detailed bill of materials were also explained. A session you do not want to skip.

In AI Planner Online, it is on by default. In Hamina, it is also on by default since it is also cloud. In iBwave or LANPlanner, you can choose the attenuation calculation models but in the end, the result is mostly the same as in Ekahau and Hamina

El equipo discutió un problema técnico donde los dispositivos Apple Mac no pueden completar el proceso de autenticación cuando se conectan a una red Wi-Fi con controladores Cisco que utilizan ClearPass y un servidor de autenticación Microsoft Active Directory. Victor explicó que el proceso de asociación inicial funciona correctamente, pero cuando llega la solicitud de identidad del cliente, el dispositivo Apple no responde correctamente, causando un tiempo de espera infinito. El grupo identificó que el problema probablemente se debe a que los dispositivos Mac no están correctamente registrados en el MDM (Mobile Device Management) de Apple, ya que los dispositivos business requieren un proceso de onboarding específico a través de canales de distribución autorizados. Los participantes compartieron experiencias similares y aconsejaron que se necesita crear un SSID abierto para que los dispositivos puedan descargarse el perfil MDM primero. La conversación también incluyó actualizaciones sobre próximas conferencias WLPC en Valencia (11-13 de septiembre para el boot camp y 14 y 15 para la conferencia).
